Overview
A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Automation Engineer to support the delivery of complex, high-performance projects across mission-critical and commercial environments.
This role sits within a multidisciplinary team and focuses on the design, integration, and optimisation of building automation systems, with a strong emphasis on quality, reliability, and system interoperability.
You will play a key role in bridging engineering design and real-world system performance, working closely with project teams, clients, and specialist contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Design and specify Building Management Systems (BMS) / Building Automation (GA) for large-scale projects
Develop system architectures, control strategies, and sequences of operation
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and IT disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions
Support system integration, interoperability, and open protocol implementation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, KNX)
Review technical submissions, drawings, and vendor designs
Contribute to commissioning, testing, and performance validation
Provide technical input across design, delivery, and handover phases
Engage with clients to ensure systems meet operational and performance requirements
Requirements
Strong experience in building automation / BMS engineering within complex environments
Proven track record in system design, integration, and delivery
Experience with open protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, KNX (others advantageous)
Solid understanding of HVAC systems and their interaction with BMS
Experience working on large-scale or mission-critical projects (data centres highly desirable)
Ability to work across both design and delivery phases
Strong stakeholder coordination and communication skills
