5 REASONS WHY I CHOSE RECRUITMENT

Culture

[Elizabeth] Coming right out of college I knew I wanted a fun work environment with people I really enjoyed being around. I am actually happy to come to work and spend time with everyone and feel more motivated to work hard when I see everyone around me doing the same.

[Jack] Fun. I get to wake up each day with no dread looming when I open my laptop. When everyone on the sales floor is on that same level, it creates an environment of energy, positivity, and collaboration which breed positive results.

Progression 

[Elizabeth] With recruitment you have so many different paths and options of how you want to progress. It feels like a choose your own adventure and everyone is supportive of how you want your career to grow. I know if I am working hard, I am going to keep progressing in whatever way I want to and is important to me.

[Jack] There is no ceiling on my progression and earnings which makes the drive everyday come naturally. Being able to recognize the only thing standing in front of more money and myself, is myself. It gives more purpose to each shift put in.

People 

[Elizabeth] Talking to new people every day was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to go into recruitment. I’ve always enjoyed building connections with new people and continuing to work with them. It feels like I’m having a real positive impact on their lives, and I can help them grow as well.

[Jack] Meeting new people has always been a pleasure of mine. I love learning about other people, what they do, where they’re from, and being able to connect on things large or small. Everyday, I find myself talking to people of all ages, demographics, and parts of the country. Getting to know people through a process and then ultimately finding them their dream job is a joy I haven’t experienced until recruiting.

Earning potential 

[Elizabeth] I love that there is nothing stopping me from earning what I want in this job. The only thing in my way is me and that motivates me to work harder and smarter every day so I can achieve my goals.

[Jack] Knowing the only thing in the way of more money in my pockets each month is my biggest driver. New York calls out at me each weekend asking me to spend my money on its many acclaimed restaurants, famous music venues, and unmatched bar scene. The better month I have the more I can do. Talk about incentive!  

Perks 

[Elizabeth] There are all sorts of perks within recruitment on an almost daily basis. Whether I’m working towards hitting lunch club for the month, getting a free ski trip, or winning prizes on sales day, there is always something fun to work towards and it only helps motivate us to work harder and builds the friendships we create here. Going into recruitment right out of college was one of the best decisions I ever made and I’m so excited to continue my career in such a supportive and fun environment!

[Jack] 

In less than a year with Thor, I have been to Miami, stood atop the Williamsburg Hotel for cocktails and hor d’oeuvres, am getting ready for a ski trip in Vermont next month and headed to Cannes, France in June. The rewards come in smaller sizes like 3pm Friday’s all summer long, long lunches on Wednesday and frequent company expensed drinks. It's genuinely been the best decision I’ve made and it excites me that I get to help people like me get into recruitment and start their career.
