As we reflect on 2023, a year marked by global economic uncertainties, the team at Thor has not only navigated through turbulent times but also collaborated as a team to achieve great things for our clients and candidates. Despite tough market conditions, we have been adapting to the new normal. Join us in revisiting the standout moments of the year including company highlights and incredible team achievements - let's dive in!
Client & Candidate Collaborations:
Many of our partner firms have been navigating a complex balancing act of preparing their workforce while optimising resource allocation. We have witnessed internal hiring professionals rising to the challenge, collaborating closely with their business leaders to ensure their talent strategies are aligned with the evolving economic landscape.
To support our clients' missions of delivering top talent to fuel their growth, our team is proud to have made 376 placements across 192 different clients covering the three industries we operate in. Notably, for 10 of our most valued partners, we have facilitated a remarkable 15 placements each within the year. This shows our consistent ability to meet the hiring needs of our clients with repeated success.
Conferences:
2023 has been a fantastic year for international conferences, our consultants have travelled across the globe to connect with industry experts at these events. Some of the conferences that our team have attended this year included Vind 2023 in Sweden, the Swiss Medtech Expo in Switzerland and the Logistics Summit in Germany. We are looking forward to attending many more conferences in the new year and building connections with our clients and candidates.
Switzerland and DACH Development:
One of Thor's key milestones this year was the acquisition of an SECO license in August, enabling us to commence offering recruitment services in the Swiss and DACH regions. The possession of this license assures stakeholders that we operate within the legal framework of the region. Since reaching this significant milestone, we have been actively strengthening our presence in the DACH region. We now have a dedicated team within our Teknologi division specialising in SAP working in the market.
Technology and innovation aren't just a buzzword anymore; it's the driving force behind our commitment to becoming more efficient as a company. Throughout the past year, we've strategically invested in our tech stack, confident that these enhancements will position us as a leader in delivering outstanding service to our clients and candidates.
In 2023, we've embarked on a transformative journey, harnessing technology to redefine the way we approach our data, streamline processes, and enhance candidate and client experiences to become better at what we do. Here are two examples of our technological strides this year:
CRM & Data:
Our Data and Technology Manager has been on the frontline, ensuring that our consultants and business leverage the full spectrum of features embedded in our CRM system. These projects bring us closer to our data than ever before, empowering us not only to make informed and strategic internal decisions but also to seamlessly connect the right job opportunities with the most fitting candidates. This results in presenting our clients with the strongest, most in-demand talent that aligns with the unique demands of the regions they operate in.
Sales Enhancing platforms:
A pivotal addition to our tech stack this year is the implementation of Sales Screen, a sales-enhancing platform. This strategic investment has catalysed a tangible impact on our consultants' day-to-day operations. Beyond the evident boost in productivity, Sales Screen instils a sense of accountability and fosters recognition among peers through loads of fun gamification.
In today's digital world, our commitment to technological innovation is the foundation of our promise to provide exceptional service. These tech upgrades aren't just internal tweaks; they are our commitment to lead the way in shaping the future of recruitment.
A company’s ED&I and CSR commitment is now more important than ever and here at Thor, this is no exception. We understand that they are essential not only to our success but to the success of our clients and candidates. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected, and to giving back to the communities we serve.
Thortful Minds:
This year we launched Thorftul Minds as a space to promote our ED&I and CSR initiatives, made up of a global committee of our employees from all over the world. Focusing on each of these areas allows us to concentrate our efforts in depth so that we can develop innovative and effective strategies. Every month we sit down with a special guest and we give them the platform to discuss a topic related to ED&I - from discussing the importance of Black History Month to looking at how a company can support their neurodivergent employees.
Relocating to the US:
At Thor, as part of our commitment to employee development, we offer our employees the incredible opportunity to relocate to our offices across the globe. This year we saw four members of our EU team decide to relocate across the pond to join our US office. Relocating to another country and having to adapt to a new city and work environment can be a daunting feat. Therefore, we are on hand to help with the process to make the transition as smooth as possible, by providing a generous relocation allowance and covering all travel costs.
Charity Events:
Back in September, we raised money for Mind Charity for International Day of Charity by hosting a Pie in the Face Challenge. It was a fun (and messy) day across our offices, which saw us coming together to support the work that Mind does for mental health awareness.
Our Charity efforts did not stop there though! For Movember this year, we came together to raise awareness for men's mental health month by forming a fundraising team that put on a series of events throughout the month for everyone to get involved with.
This year we have raised £3,500 - and are looking forward to continuing raising awareness for these important causes in 2024.
Trips:
The hashtag for 2023 has to be #ThorOnTour – there have been so many incredible trips to celebrate our team who embody our core values.
Our top performers in our EU and US teams were treated to an extraordinary weekend of skiing and fun in the French Alps and Laurentian Mountains in February. This was an incredible experience for all involved and we are excited to see who will be showing off their slope skills for 2024s trip!
In June, our back office team enjoyed a weekend in the English sunshine at Chilston Park Hotel to commemorate their hard work throughout the year. It was great to see the team coming together to celebrate their achievements and their ‘striving for success’ teamwork.
This year we marked a first for Thor with our Global Super Trip. A 3-day action-packed weekend in September which brought together the top performers from our offices in the beautiful city of Barcelona for an unforgettable trip. At Thor, the emphasis on celebrating achievements has led to some remarkable trips in the past. What made this different was the coming together of our global team; our EU and US teams were able to fully connect on a personal level beyond the usual work interactions.
We would like to thank our team at Thor, candidates and clients for your collaboration throughout 2023. Looking back at our achievements, it is clear to see that your hard work and partnership have been instrumental to our success. We are looking forward to continuing our journey together and nurturing our relationship further. Here's to a great new year!
