A Look Back At Our 2025 AGM | Thor Companies

This year’s AGM brought our global teams together once again - this time at the historic Royal Institution in London, a venue known for its legacy of innovation and discovery. It felt like the perfect setting for a day centred around knowledge, progress, and the future of our business.

With colleagues travelling in from our EU and New York offices, there was a real sense of occasion. It was a chance to reconnect with familiar faces we hadn’t seen since last year’s AGM - and to meet others in person for the very first time. The energy in the room was a reminder of what makes Thor so unique: our people, our ambition, and our shared commitment to doing things differently.

The theme for AGM 2025?

The Power of Knowledge: Shaping the Future.

And from start to finish, that mindset echoed throughout the day.

A Look at Where We Are

Denis Coakley took us through a clear and honest review of our progress over the past year - celebrating wins, surfacing learnings, and outlining how we’re positioning Thor for a stronger, more focused future.

The review covered key areas of performance across our teams and markets, with a spotlight on where we’ve seen meaningful traction and where we’ve made deliberate, strategic changes. We heard about the shifts we’ve made to focus our efforts on high-potential markets, the importance of protecting and extending long-term client relationships, and the critical role each team plays in supporting our collective growth.

There was also recognition of the operational improvements behind the scenes, from evolving team structures to strengthening internal alignment - all designed to set us up for more consistent delivery and sustainable success.

There’s a lot to be proud of - and plenty to play for.

Bold Thinking and Positive Disruptions

Chris Singleton delivered a powerful session on Positive Disruption - a deep dive into how Thor is evolving to meet the demands of mission-critical industries across the globe.

He explored what it means to be a true specialist in spaces where failure isn’t an option. Chris reminded us that our clients rely on precision, consistency, and speed - and that delivering in these high-stakes environments takes more than just recruitment expertise.

It takes bravery.

It takes bold ideas.

And it takes a mindset that embraces change, rather than waits for it.

Chris also highlighted how we’re sharpening our focus on long-term, strategic partnerships - moving from transactional recruitment to embedded, solutions-driven support. It was a rallying call for everyone in the room to own the value we bring, and to keep pushing boundaries.

Strategy Through Curiosity

Marcus Godbold took us inside his session: Where Smoke Meets Strategy - a thought-provoking look at how hunches, when paired with data and curiosity, can lead to game-changing results.

He walked us through how market insight doesn’t just come from dashboards or reports - it comes from asking the right questions, observing patterns, and staying relentlessly close to your network.

From setting up search alerts and digging into job boards, to reaching out to competitors and listening to what the market is really saying, Marcus showed how gut instinct and structured research can work hand in hand.

His session was a reminder that strategy doesn’t always come from the top, it can (and should) be driven by the people who are closest to the action every day.

A Client-First Mindset

James Kelly's, session Creating Long-Term Value was a standout moment. Drawing on years of experience leading high-growth recruitment businesses, James offered a fresh and practical perspective on what it really means to put the client at the heart of everything we do.

He challenged us to take a step back and see Thor through the eyes of our customers. From first contact to invoicing and aftercare, every part of the journey matters - and it’s our responsibility to ensure that journey feels consistent, collaborative and high quality.

James encouraged us to ask ourselves:

"What do your clients really think of your service?"

"What would your best (and toughest) customers say about working with you?"

"Are you inviting your clients to be part of the journey, or just observing it from the sidelines?"

He also shared simple, actionable ideas: using feedback to shape relationships, creating more visible touchpoints for engagement, and taking ownership of every client experience not just the ones we directly manage.

It was a timely reminder that building long-term value isn’t just about outcomes - it’s about trust, consistency, and making your clients feel truly understood.

Shaping What's Next

Nick Sym gave a powerful and focused look at the future of Thor. His session brought together the key themes from across the afternoon - growth, quality, client experience, and strategic focus - and showed how they all tie into the bigger picture.

Nick spoke candidly about the lessons we’ve learned over the past year, and how those insights have shaped the structural changes we’ve already made - from redefining internal roles and refining delivery models, to putting more emphasis on consistency, ownership and scalability across teams.

But his message wasn’t just about internal shifts. It was about ambition - and making deliberate decisions that move us closer to becoming a truly world-class recruitment business.

He reinforced the importance of:

  • Doubling down on mission-critical markets, where we bring specialist value.

  • Embedding a more consultative, insight-led client experience.

  • Creating clearer career pathways and incentives that help every team member grow.

  • Strengthening the connection between brand, process and performance.

Nick’s session was clear, confident and energising - a reminder that our future success won’t happen by accident. It will happen because we plan for it, work for it, and shape it together.

Celebrating Our People

At the heart of every success story at Thor is our people - the ones who bring energy, dedication, and ambition to everything we do. This year’s AGM gave us the perfect opportunity to pause, reflect, and recognise the individuals who have gone above and beyond.

A huge congratulations to our 2025 winners:

  • Values Award - Briana Caballero

  • Top Rookie - Toby Ferron

  • Top Performer (Perm) - Alex Coles

  • Top Performer (Contract) - Aaron Breslin

  • Director's Pick - Toby Lawrence

These awards aren't just about numbers - they represent grit, consistency, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to our shared goals. Whether you’re leading from the front, growing into your role, or quietly making things happen day after day, your impact is seen and celebrated.

We also raised a well-deserved glass to mark some work anniversaries - a reminder of the loyalty, growth, and evolution that happens over time here at Thor.

Continuing the Celebrations

After a packed day of reflection, recognition, and looking ahead, we carried the energy into the evening with drinks and dancing aboard the Tattershall Castle on the Thames. With the London skyline as our backdrop, it was the perfect way to unwind, reconnect, and celebrate everything we’ve achieved together.

Laughter, music, a guest magician and a few questionable dance moves made for a memorable night - and a fitting end to a fantastic AGM.

A Big Thank You

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring the 2025 AGM to life - it was a true team effort from start to finish.
