In our weekly blog series, we sit down each week with a different Thorite to get to know the people behind the scenes at Thor. From their career journeys to personal stories, this series will give you an inside look at the individuals who make our team so unique. This week, we have Jack Walsh, a Recruitment Consultant from our Teknologi Team.
I specialise in cybersecurity recruitment across Scandinavia, helping businesses find the right talent to strengthen their cybersecurity teams and protect their systems. It's a field that’s constantly changing, and it’s exciting to be part of such an important area of recruitment.
A masterclass I led on cybersecurity. In this project, I taught a group the fundamentals of cybersecurity, why it’s crucial and how it can be applied in various industries. The session also gave me the opportunity to collaborate with my team, which was incredibly rewarding. Watching people leave with a stronger understanding of the topic was a great feeling.
Purpose is essential - it drives everything I do, from understanding the needs of my clients to finding the right candidates. Consistency comes next; being reliable and showing up day in and day out helps me build trust with clients and candidates alike. Lastly, reflection is crucial for growth; taking time to reflect on my work and identify areas for improvement has allowed me to develop both professionally and personally.
“It will come.” When I first started my career, I sometimes felt overwhelmed by how much I had to learn, but with time, dedication, and the right mindset, things began to fall into place. It’s all about trusting the process and knowing that growth takes time.
I wanted to become an architect. But quickly changed my mind when I realised that would mean spending 7 years at university!
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is at the top of my bucket list. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. The physical challenge, the sense of achievement, and the stunning views at the summit make it an unforgettable goal.
I’d love to have dinner with Robert Greene, the author of ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ and ‘Mastery’. His books have had a huge influence on how I approach both my personal and professional life. I would be fascinated to understand his thought process, how he researches and crafts his ideas, and how he applies his knowledge in his own life.
It would be the ability to apply all the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my career. I’ve accumulated a lot of information over the years, but mastering the ability to use that knowledge in real-time would significantly enhance both my professional and personal life.
I’m a regional karate champion and hold a 2nd dan black belt. I’ve been practicing karate for years, and it’s taught me a lot about discipline, focus, and resilience. It’s not something many people know about me, but it’s a big part of who I am.
We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into Jack's journey as much as we did!
