In our weekly blog series, we sit down each week with a different Thorite to get to know the people behind the scenes at Thor. From their career journeys to personal stories, this series will give you an inside look at the individuals who make our team so unique. This week, we have Josh Stevens, a Manager from our Engineering team.
I am the Senior Manager for Critical Projects within our engineering sector, overseeing global teams in the EU and US.
I’m especially proud of the project I’m currently working on, which involves building and strengthening the critical projects sector and team across both the EU and US. It began in summer 2022, initially as a market lead in Europe, and since January, we’ve expanded to include the US team.
We’ve grown from a team of 8 globally to 12 imminently, with plans for further expansion. Our portfolio now includes over 30 clients, and we currently have the top-performing permanent consultant in the company.
Hiring exceptional talent in the world’s hottest industry has been key to our success. Our strategy is focused on growth, becoming the top-performing and largest team in the company while maximising market capacity.
Communication, accountability, and hard work.
Relationships are key in every aspect of life - whether it’s with clients, candidates, or internal colleagues. It’s not just about the here and now; building connections for the future is essential, as you may need to rely on them later.
In today’s market, recruitment is not transactional. The best recruiters stand out because of how they communicate and build meaningful relationships.
An architect. I’ve always found it fascinating - I love buildings where you can see the thought and effort that went into their design, like old barns. I’ve always enjoyed being creative and designing things.
I want to travel the world to see new places, learn about different cultures, and broaden my perspective. Whether it's exploring historic sites, visiting unique cities, or discovering remote areas, there's so much out there that I want to experience firsthand.
Rowan Atkinson. He was an idol for me growing up, and my dad and I used to call each other "Bean" as a nod to his character. I have great memories of watching his shows with my dad, and it would be amazing to share a meal and chat with him about those moments and his career.
Painting, particularly portraits. I’m not very good at it now, but being able to create lifelike portraits would be an incredible skill to have.
I used to race road and mountain bikes in skin tight lycra around South East England!
We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into Josh's journey as much as we did!
