An Interview With: Kyle Currell

In our weekly blog series, we sit down each week with a different Thorite to get to know the people behind the scenes at Thor. From their career journeys to personal stories, this series will give you an inside look at the individuals who make our team so unique. This week, we have Kyle Currell, a Recruitment Consultant in our Teknologi team.

1. What do you do at Thor?

I work in the SAP team, focusing on the DACH region, where I support businesses by connecting them with top SAP consultants.

2. What’s a project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?

One of my proudest achievements was supporting a client with a global S/4HANA rollout. It was a complex project requiring multiple SAP consultants across different modules. Ensuring the right people were in place was crucial to the rollout’s success, and it was incredibly rewarding to see everything come together.

3. What three skills are essential for success in your role?

The ability to bounce back – Things don’t always go to plan in recruitment, so having the ability to bounce back, adapt, and keep going is crucial.
Motivation – You need to come in each day feeling driven. Setting goals helps maintain focus and productivity.
Social skills – Understanding people is a huge part of the job. We play a big role in candidates’ careers, so knowing their motivations and aspirations is essential.

4. What’s the most valuable piece of advice you've received, in your career so far?

Treat others how you want to be treated. This principle is especially important in recruitment, where relationships are everything. It applies not just to candidates and clients but also to working as a team at Thor.

5. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A footballer! I’m a big West Ham fan, and if I have a son one day, that’ll be the dream for him too.

6. What’s one thing on your bucket list?

I’d love to travel around Australia. I have family and friends out there, so it would be amazing to explore the country and spend time with them.

7. If you could have dinner with any person, past or present, who would it be and why?

Carlos Tevez. He played for West Ham during the famous ‘Great Escape’ season, and I’d love to hear his take on that time.

8. If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?

Speaking German. It would be incredibly useful for my role and would make life a lot easier.

9. What’s a surprising fact about you?

When I was two years old, I split my head open by jumping on the bed and falling onto a radiator. I still have the scar to prove it!
