Medium Voltage Power Engineer - Data Center & Mission-Critical
A US-based Data Center owner/operator is expanding its electrical engineering team and is seeking a Medium Voltage Power Engineer to support multiple high-density Data Center facilities.
This is a hybrid role with ~20% travel, typically one site visit per month, with additional travel expected as new U.S. sites come online. Candidates should be based within easy access to a major airport.
This role sits at the heart of how critical electrical infrastructure is designed, maintained, and brought online. If you want technical depth, visibility, and influence across the full lifecycle - this is that environment.
The Role
You will design, evaluate, and maintain medium and high-voltage electrical distribution systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams including mechanical, controls, and operations staff. This is not a paperwork role - you will be embedded with senior engineering leaders, contractors, and operations teams to ensure reliable and efficient delivery of mission-critical power infrastructure.
Why This Team Is Attractive
- Direct access to senior electrical leadership - fast decisions, tight feedback loops, minimal bureaucracy
- Growing operator: your engineering decisions will shape standards for future facilities and new builds
- Hands-on involvement with medium voltage distribution, UPS, switchgear, and protective relaying
- High autonomy across design, evaluation, and commissioning support
- Opportunity to influence electrical architecture across multiple Data Center sites as the platform scales
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement medium and high-voltage electrical distribution systems and connected apparatus
- Conduct detailed analyses and evaluations to ensure reliability, efficiency, and code compliance
- Manage protective relaying devices and schemes, and support fault analysis and system optimization
- Collaborate with MEP and operations teams to support commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for critical electrical infrastructure
- Participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency response drills
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or utility infrastructure
- Project management experience across electrical projects
- Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM PowerTools)
- Strong understanding of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards and other regulations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- US work eligibility and flexibility for domestic and international travel
The Opportunity
This is a chance to take ownership of medium voltage systems that directly impact reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
You’ll have visibility, technical autonomy, and influence across the design, construction, and operation of next-generation mission-critical Data Centers.
