Mechanical Engineer | Data Centers & Mission-Critical Facilities
This role sits at the heart of how next-generation Data Centers are designed, built, and brought online. A US-based Data Center owner/operator is expanding its engineering capability across New York State and is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who can take real ownership of the systems that drive performance, reliability, and operational resilience.
If you want technical depth, visibility, and influence across the full lifecycle - this is that environment.
The Role
You’ll guide mechanical systems from early design through fit-out, vendor coordination, installation oversight, and commissioning. This is not a paperwork role - you will be embedded with senior engineering leaders, contractors, and operations teams to ensure the infrastructure delivers exactly as intended.
Why This Team Is Attractive
- Direct access to senior mechanical leadership - fast decisions, tight feedback loops, no bureaucracy.
- Growing operator: your engineering decisions will shape standards for future facilities and new builds.
- Mechanical engineering is deeply valued internally; the company builds around strong in-house MEP oversight rather than purely vendor-driven solutions.
- High autonomy across design criteria, vendor evaluations, and commissioning support.
- Ability to influence mechanical architecture for upcoming sites as the platform scales across NY State.
Key Responsibilities
- Define mechanical design criteria and develop procurement and technical scope packages
- Review vendor methodologies, recommend design optimizations, and perform value engineering
- Assess submittals and ensure alignment with owner requirements and mechanical specifications
- Coordinate mechanical installations during tenant fit-outs, working closely with electrical and controls teams
- Support functional testing, commissioning, and turnover documentation for operational readiness
- Partner cross-functionally with MEP, construction, and operations to maintain design integrity through delivery
What You Bring
- Experience in mechanical engineering for Data Centers, mission-critical facilities, or complex HVAC/chilled water systems
- Strong technical understanding of cooling topologies, hydronic systems, and critical mechanical infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience with vendor evaluation, submittals, and installation coordination
- Comfortable operating in a multidisciplinary environment with electrical, controls, and commissioning teams
- Eligible to work in the US, with flexibility for site visits across New York State
The Opportunity
This is a chance to take ownership of mechanical systems that have a direct impact on uptime, efficiency, and long-term reliability.
You’ll have meaningful visibility, technical autonomy, and influence on how the company designs and delivers its next generation of mission-critical facilities.
