The Company


A Geneva-based ophthalmology start-up focused on developing novel eye diagnostic solutions. The company is working on a fully automated multi-patient ocular diagnostics platform right now.

The organisation is searching for the right candidates to cover key technical responsibilities in charge of the new diagnostics platform's hardware and software development. The initial team will be in charge of doing hands-on product development, with the possibility of taking on technical leadership responsibilities as the product and company mature.


Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee the real-time control software architecture, design, development, coding, debugging, testing, maintenance, and verification.

• Develop and drive product roadmaps in collaboration with other members of the engineering team.

• Work on drivers, middleware, libraries, apps, and HMI at various levels of the embedded software stack.

• Collaborate closely with the business unit to ensure that application development adheres to the product specifications.

• Ensure interoperability and reuse by working collaboratively with other technical teams, partners, and vendors.

• Gather, comprehend, analyse, and document product requirements, as well as translate them into implementable design inputs, in order to design and programme.

• Responsible for the delivery of software and system work packages, as well as all parts of the software development lifecycle.

• As part of the software development process, planning and implementing Software Verification and Validation

• In accordance with regulatory requirements, authoring and maintaining technical documentation required for CE marking and FDA approvals.

• Create and maintain a software version control system.

• Continual enhancements to software quality, dependability, and security


Your Profile:

•  Master’s degree (HES, EPFL) or equivalent in related scientific or engineering fields (Computer science,

Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering)

• Demonstrated success in new product development, project management, and real-time software development over several years.

• Able to handle numerous competing priorities with little supervision.

• Knowledge with SW development methods in accordance with Medical Devices Regulations and Standards in the United States and the European Union is a plus.

• Knowledge of hospital information systems (HIS), e-health, and healthcare standards (IHE, HL7, DICOM, etc.) is advantageous.

• Knowledge with encryption techniques, HIPAA, and GDPR regulations is advantageous.

• Ability to work well with others

• Fluent in English and French


Required Skills:

• Experience with multi-threaded applications, concurrency, and RTOS environments

•  Excellent knowledge of Python development with actual product deployment experience

• Expertise in C/C++ and familiarity with the Windows Driver development process.

• Familiarity with Git and version control

• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and services

• Relevant experience in software development and modular architecture design (UML, SOA, design patterns)

• Image/signal processing (NumPy, OpenCV, ...)

• A thorough understanding of sensors, actuators, motor controllers/drivers, and control systems is required.

• Web-based application development (node.js, java script, Vue), testing, and web services experience are required.


Nice to have:

• Extensive knowledge with embedded application processors, microcontrollers, motor controllers, and motor drivers, among other things.

• Fieldbus protocol experience (e.g., EtherCat, Ethernet) • Video streaming experience

• Over The Air update process.

• Development and deployment of mobile applications

• Knowledge of Python Poetry dependency management system • DevOps, CI/CD, Software roadmaps and planning
